FRIDAY MANIA - BLOG #7 - Onslaught / Blood Feast = Old school thrash masters!

HAILS MANIAC!

A new week has passed by!! Last weekend was a killer one so let’s get into it. We saw Venom Inc. with Midnight and Necrophagia here in Cleveland, and it was awesome! Venom Inc., who consist of Demolition Man, Abaddon, and Mantas, played a set full of Venom classics. The songs sounded much like the albums and we were impressed! No need to get into the debate over Cronos’ version of Venom, we will gladly take our two-third’s. If you live in the L.A. area, go see Venom Inc. this Thursday June 23rd!!! Not to be missed!

Last week we talked about POSSESSED and PROFANATICA, two major influences in underground death metal. This week we continue on this path and discuss Onslaught’s Power from Hell and Blood Feast’s Kill for Pleasure.

ONSLAUGHT

I can’t think many people into the 80’s underground who have told me they don’t like Onslaught. There’s something in their songs that brings great metal health to our minds. Perhaps tracks like “Lord of Evil” and “Steel Meets Steel” from their debut, Power from Hell, contribute to this feeling I get. Onslaught was formed in 1982 in England. Referring to themselves as punks, this influence was especially apparent on their first demo tapes (just listen "Thermonuclear Devastation" demo version here!) as well as on the Power from Hell full-length.

Onslaught recorded The Force the next year, followed by In Search of Sanity in 1987. The band would disband in 91’ and eventually re-united in 2004. Speed Clothes is proud to present official Onslaught Power from Hell leggings, high-quality evil to wear tight on your skin. PRE-ORDER here.

BLOOD FEAST

For many, Blood Feast is among the first bands discovered when exploring the underground. The leggings pictured feature the artwork from their first album, Kill for Pleasure(87’). This album is influential to many of us who worship the old school form of metal; thrash to the bone, aggressive, massive, and straight for the throat. (If you never heard it, please!!! take a listen here)

To us headbangers, Blood Feast isn’t just “another band that didn’t sell a platinum album”, rather we view the band as priceless and admirable, because the music teaches you the street’s way, the gore, the horror, the fear!!! Speed Clothes brings you officially licensed Blood Feast Kill for Pleasure leggings, available for PRE-ORDER now and very soon to be in your hands!!

So there you go. If you never really heard either of these bands you should check them out and judge by yourself. The only thing I can say is they definitely are big influence to me since I started in metal. ALL HAIL TO THEE!! Also if you live in the L.A. area, I highly encourage you to go to Venom inc.'s show at the Whiskey A GoGo in West Hollywood, you might find interesting people there!! He he.
